Words from the Chief Master
In spite of the vast number of books and articles that have been
written and published
in this country about the martial art, and in spite of the vast number
of martial art masters and grandmasters coming to the west from the east, it
is remarkable how little real authentic knowledge we have attained pertaining
to the various martial art history’s, philosophy, techniques,
martial art conditioning and body development. There is insufficient
information on how joints and bones should line-up when striking
objects or people with different body weapons. The number of books,
articles, masters and grandmasters are steadily growing with each
passing year, but with few exceptions, the information provided
by them is too superficial to have any real value. Many of them
focus on tournament fighting techniques or trickery, imitation
of joint locking techniques and how to make large sums of money
with minimal effort and training.
The United Martial Science Federation will assist martial artists regardless
of style in acquiring knowledge and skills through
the various sciences such as functional anatomy, motor control,
biomechanics, physics, and exercise physiology with special emphasis
on body structure alignment and how forces travel through the
body. The same laws of physics that govern the movement
of an object are the same laws that govern human movement. Only
a systematic and coherent martial science program can adequately
and safely prepare martial artists to utilize these laws for
total physical control of there body. Proficiency in the martial
science is attained first through a clear and concise understanding
of the fundamental principles that govern those particular skills;
and secondly, through the strict application of those principles
and laws which pertain to each martial science skill.
The Path that we the United Martial Science Federation member
schools embark upon is ever changing and a work in progress. At
a time when so many martial artists have abandoned the roots of
martial art and gone in search of the leaves. We embarked upon
a journey that will sink our main root deep in the soil of science
so that we may grow strong and stand firm, our branches will grow
in many different direction and our leaves will be countless. Just
because a path is well worn does not mean that it is the right
one to take. So many take the path of least resistance because
it is easiest to take as opposed to the one all grown over and
seldom used, it is a harder or most difficult journey to undertake.
We will be blazing new paths in the martial art world. The
United Martial Science Federation organization does not have
all the answers, but we strive to understand the question … we
will find the answer.
